Michael Fick, 58, of Cody, WY, was born in Reading, PA, to his parents, Jerry and Sherry (Buchter) Fick. He graduated from Hamburg Area High School in 1985, where he played football, basketball, baseball, and track.
He married his wife, Susan, in 1990, and they moved to Cody in 1994, where, together with Jerry and Sherry, they operated Teschumeh’s Trading Post and Miniature Museum for 20 years. He also operated a masonry business in Pennsylvania before moving to Cody. His favorite job was commercial fishing in Southeast Alaska, which he did for 27 years.

Mike was a member of the Cody Eagles, Cody Elks, Shartlesville Fire Company, a Life Member of the Shartlesville Fish and Game Association, and of Safari Club International.
Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, traveling, and playing poker. He was the many-time state champion in electronic darts in 501 singles and doubles and cricket singles and doubles during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Mike was the Roughrider Poker Tour Montana Player of the Year in 2024 and the Deadwood Summer Shootout Player of the Series in 2025. He peaked at 10th in the all-time Wyoming Poker Earnings ranking on The Hendon Mob. He won 2 RPT titles, and had 4 runner-up finishes, including a loss to his son Bradley heads-up, which he often cited as his favorite poker memory.

Many of us in the Billings Poker Community had the privilege of playing with, and often getting outplayed by Mike on the poker tables. He will be remembered by many of us as a tough competitor in the game that we all share a love and respect for. Mike played the game very well and was always a pleasure to have at the table. Mike made many friends in our community through the fellowship that the game fosters and he will be greatly missed.
